Dreams Dreaming Dream Analysis Dream

Dreams that have a romantic or sexual connotation may be some of the most powerful that you will ever experience. These dreams can be so intense and touch you so deeply that you may shed tears of joy or heartbreak upon waking.

Below are some of the more common themes of romantic and sexual dreams:

Dreams of an Ex from a Bad Relationship
Many people find themselves dreaming of old flames. Even if you have found a new love you may dream of an ex. However, you may be shocked if you dream of someone with whom you had a bad relationship, especially if you are glad the relationship is over.

But dreaming of an ex, even a bad ex, does not necessarily mean you want to get back with them. When a painful relationship ends, there are often emotional wounds left behind. While you may feel during waking hours that you have dealt with them and moved on, this type of dream may be telling you that you still have unresolved issues with this relationship.

This type of dream can also be a way for you to subconsciously compare your current love to your ex. You may not notice it during waking hours, but you may be picking up subtle signs from him or her that reminds you of your ex.

Dreams of an Ex from a Good Relationship
You may think if you dream of an ex that it means you have not truly gotten over him or her. You may fear that your dreams are telling you that you cannot move on and you really do not love your new partner. But, this is not necessarily true. Sometimes an ex, if you have really good memories of the relationship, can come to symbolise romance itself. So when you have a dream about this ex, you are really not dreaming so much of him or her, but of romance. It is not necessarily a sign that you do not love your current partner or that you will never be capable of fully loving them. When you have dreams of an ex, you may simply be remembering what happened in a relationship that made you happy so you can apply that to your current relationship.

Dreams of a Perfect Lover
Dreaming of a perfect lover can come at many times. It may come when you are in the middle of a dry spell, when there is little or no romance in your life. You may conjure up this dream lover as a bit of relief. This may also be your mind’s way of telling you that the perfect love, at least in your opinion, is still available and it may give you hope that one day you will find that dream lover.

Dreams of Infidelity
If you dream your lover is cheating on you, you may wonder if you have noticed any subliminal clues during waking hours. It is more likely that rather than your partner physically cheating on you, your dreams are telling you that you feel emotionally abandoned by him or her. You may feel he or she is showing more attention to something else, such as their job, and you are feeling neglected.

Unusual Dreams of Intimacy
There may be times when you have intimate dreams of someone to which you feel no physical attraction. Why would you dream about someone you really think isn’t attractive? It may be a way of telling you to avoid a decision in the waking hours that you really aren’t into. And then finally, there may be an unconscious attraction to this person of which you are not aware. You may have noticed a quality in that person that has struck a cord with you subconsciously.

Dreams of romance and sex can stir up emotions in us that we may have forgotten we have. They can be powerful or they can be upsetting. If you dream of an ex, look at your current relationship and see how any traits of that ex can apply to that relationship or if you are lacking something in your current relationship that your ex provided for you.
